The chain of survival is a sequence of interventions that when performed in order and without delay will give the best chance of survival.

Last month we discussed the importance of a priority action plan. The chain of survival falls within
the priority action plan and part of this chain is a simple life saving response that can assist someone that has collapsed – basic life support. Also referred to as CPR, this important skill
allows oxygen to continue its way around the body and the brain until further help arrives.
